Andrew started swimming with the Prince George Barracudas in 1993 at the tender age of 10. He swam with the Barracudas throughout elementary, high school and the first year of college. He then went on to swim with the University of Alberta Golden Bears for two years. Andrew competed at the national level for 4 years and attended Olympic Trials in 2000. He retired from swimming in 2002 due to a shoulder injury and to focus on school full time.

Andrew joined Victoria Masters in 2012 because he missed swimming. He wanted to get back into shape and had a friend who recommended the club. His favourite meet is the Nanaimo swim meet in January because it is close to Victoria and there is usually a large number of swimmers who make the trip to compete.

Andrew enjoys swimming with Victoria Masters because his entire body feels better after a practice. His back doesn’t hurt anymore and he sleeps better. The coaches are very knowledgeable and can help swimmers at any level. He still feels like he learns new things from the coaches even though he has been swimming for more than 20 years. In his opinion, this is the best masters swim club in Canada because we have such a large membership and great quality of coaching. We have a great group of people who are very supportive and have a passion for swimming.
